NFPA 13 2019 Edition Update Training Webinar
The 2019 edition of the NFPA 13 Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems has gone through a complete reorganization. Learn directly from the Chair of the NFPA 13 Restructuring Task Group, Russ Leavitt.
A new webinar has been prepared by Fire Smarts, LLC to educate facility managers, building and fire officials and service providers worldwide on the 2019 edition complete reorganization of the NFPA 13 Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems. This training course is presented by the Chair of the NFPA 13 Restructuring Task Group, Russ Leavitt. This webinar begins with reviewing the reasons that the Automatic Sprinkler Correlating Committee directed the reorganization. The process used to create the rewrite is then briefly discussed including the actions taken by the correlating committee task group and the NFPA 13 technical committees. Finally, the revised layout of the standard with a special emphasis on the new approach to determining the protection criteria for storage is examined in detail. In addition to discussing the reorganization, this webinar will also discuss the more significant technical revisions to NFPA 13 in the 2019 edition. The “NFPA 13 2019 Edition – Reorganizing the Standard” webinar will be presented by fire protection industry expert, Russ Leavitt, SET, CFPS on January 25th at 2:00pm Eastern. During this 90-minute training, Mr. Leavitt will explain the reasons for the reorganization of the standard, describe the format for the 2019 edition of NFPA 13, locate and apply the new approach for determining storage protection design criteria, and identify significant technical revisions to the standard.

Webinar instructor, Russ Leavitt is the Executive Chairman of Telgian Corporation. With over 36 years of experience, he holds a Level IV certification from NICET in Fire Sprinkler Layout and Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) designation. He is a Board Member and 2nd Vice-Chair of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and is the chair of the NFPA 13 Sprinkler System Discharge Criteria technical committee. He also serves on the NFPA 13 Installation committee as well as the NFPA 3, NFPA 4 and NFPA 25 technical committees. Russ conducts seminars internationally on a variety of fire and life safety related subjects and has authored a number of articles and training materials.
