Gary L. Johnson, representing FBC™ Building Solutions of The Lubrizol Corporation, joins the Fire Smarts Faculty Team to contribute to the development of fire protection education and training resources utilizing his extensive knowledge of polymer technologies and the NFPA standards.
Fire Smarts, LLC is pleased to announce the addition of Gary L. Johnson to the Fire Smarts Faculty as a manufacturer representative of FBC Building Solutions of The Lubrizol Corporation. With over 30 years of fire protection experience, Mr. Johnson is an internationally recognized authority on polymer technologies commonly used in fire sprinkler systems.
Mr. Johnson has operated in a variety of capacities in the fire protection industry. He began his career in 1974 as a fire sprinkler contractor with Automatic Sprinkler Corp where for nearly 20 years he was directly involved in the installation of fire sprinkler systems. In 1993 he accepted responsibility for the marketing and business development of the BlazeMaster® fire sprinkler systems product line; a responsibility he still has in his role with Lubrizol as Global Business Development Manager. In addition to his practical field experience, Mr. Johnson, has served as Chairman of the Residential Fire Safety Institute (RFSI), on the Board of Directors for IFSA, on residential committee’s for NFSA and AFSA, and as a member of the Technical Committee for NFPA 13D/13R.

The Fire Smarts Faculty is actively involved in the promotion of fire protection education and training based on model building codes and NFPA standards. Domestically, a primary focus has been on the emerging residential fire sprinkler market. In 2008 Fire Smarts, LLC published the “Residential Fire Sprinklers Market Growth and Labor Demand Analysis” to quantify the impact of residential fire sprinkler requirements in the International Residential Code (IRC). Through an alliance with the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors National Association (PHCC) the company has been leading the efforts to educate and train the plumbing community on residential fire sprinkler systems.
Internationally, Fire Smarts, LLC is well positioned to benefit from the increasing use of the NFPA standards. With Fire Smarts Faculty as recognized experts in the NFPA standards, the company offers a unique training solution for organizations abroad in need of this knowledge.
