This seminar will start with a review of basic fire alarm system devices and components, and then review types of fire alarm systems. This session will then review NFPA 72 starting at the scope of the document, then through the definitions that drive the application of the code. We will then review the key sections of the code so that the attendees are familiar with the layout and content of NFPA 72. The participants will utilize their learning by conducting two exercises determining spacing and proper coverage for both initiating and notification devices. Finally we will review the documentation requirements for Fire Alarm system acceptance testing and when re-acceptance testing is required. It is recommended that students bring the NFPA 72 standard as a reference.
