This course covers the obstruction rules for fire sprinkler placement as required by NFPA 13 ‘Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems’. Improper placement of fire sprinklers can lead to delay of sprinkler activation, an uncontrolled fire overwhelming the fire sprinkler system or an excessive number of sprinklers opening during a fire. This presentation discusses where building components may impact the fire sprinkler discharge pattern and how to minimize the impact in order to maintain proper fire control.
Learning Objectives:
•Explain the spacing rules of fire sprinklers related to obstructions
•Understand how to determine when fire sprinkler placement must be adjusted to accommodate obstructions
•Learn the NFPA 13 requirements for Obstructions to Fire Sprinkler Discharge
