Fire alarm systems utilize notification devices to warn building occupants when there is an emergency. Based on Chapter 18 of NFPA 72 National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code, this session will cover the design and spacing fundamentals for various notification devices utilized in fire alarm installations. The requirements to determine if notification is public or private mode will be discussed as well as specific requirements for sleeping areas. Participants will also be introduced to mass notification system design and voice-based notification requirements.
