Course Description: Backflow preventers, when connected to the fire sprinkler lines, have a primary purpose to stop water in the fire sprinkler system from flowing back into the water supply source. This course will cover backflow prevention requirements for fire protection systems based on NFPA, USC, ASSE, AWWA, UPC, CSA, UL, and FM standards. The presenter will discuss the different types of backflow prevention assemblies and how they are best utilized. Participants will learn how to determine when a backflow preventer is needed, where it should be located and the proper type of backflow preventer to install.
