Course Description: The use of fire alarm wiring is impacted by the fire alarm codes and standards as well as manufacturer specifications. This course reviews common challenges that occur when wiring methods are allowed by code, but may be in conflict with the manufacturer requirements, as well as installation changes that may need to be considered based on field conditions. The presenter will cover wiring methods that are considered industry standard best practices as well as wiring methods that may be allowed, but are not the best option for long-term maintenance of the fire alarm system. A discussion on T-taps will be provided with focus on when they are allowed and when their use may be restricted.
