This two-part webinar presentation will introduce participants to the basic operating principles and general storage requirements for fire sprinkler systems based on NFPA 13.
A two-part recorded webinar series has been prepared by Fire Smarts, LLC to educate facility managers, building and fire officials and service providers worldwide on the ever-present NFPA 13 Storage Requirements. These webinars are part of the online training resources offered by Fire Smarts.
The “Understanding NFPA 13 Storage Requirements for Fire Sprinkler Systems (Part 1)” and “Applying NFPA 13 Storage Requirements for Fire Sprinkler Systems (Part 2)” webinars will be presented by fire protection industry expert, Ralph Bless, P.E., SET, CFPS. During this two-part training, Mr. Bless will cover many items, including but not limited to, key definitions and terminology, types of storage and the foundational questions of “What is being stored?”; “How is it stored?”; and “How high is it stored?”. He will also guide participants through applying the gained knowledge in real-world examples.

Webinar instructor, Ralph Bless has more than 40 years’ experience in fire protection including a broad range of water based and special hazard system design, code consulting and fire protection engineering services. He has provided services to government, hospitality, warehouse/distribution center, retail, convenience, multi-unit development, multifamily housing, industrial, restaurant, and medical accounts. He is licensed as a Professional Engineer in six states, a Certified Fire Protection Specialist, Level IV NICET senior fire sprinkler layout technician and holds three additional NICET certifications, as well as eight state licenses. Ralph chairs the NFPA technical committee for Record Storage, NFPA 232, and serves on the NFPA technical committees for Water Spray Systems, NFPA 15, as well as the NFPA 13 Installation Technical Committee and Correlating Committee.
