This course covers the requirements for the design and installation of underground piping systems as required by NFPA 24 ‘Standard for the Installation of Private Fire Service Mains and Their Appurtenances’. This presentation reviews the requirements for piping, fittings, and components including control valves, backflow preventers, and hydrants. Connections to water supplies is discussed along with installation requirements such as laying of pipe, the protection of piping, depth of bury, and piping restraint. System acceptance testing is also reviewed including flushing and hydrostatic testing.
