This presentation will focus on Protected Premises Fire Alarm Systems as defined in Chapter 23 of NFPA 72 National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code. Commonly referred to as a local fire alarm system, a Protected Premises system sounds an alarm when an initiating device is activated such as water flowing in a sprinkler system or the detection of smoke or heat. The presenter will review the design requirements for these systems and explain where they are similar and where they are different from requirements for Supervising Stations Alarm Systems found in Chapter 26 of NFPA 72.
